About Lydia Paul

Lydia Paul is a jewellery practice based in Tallinn, Estonia, founded by jeweller Klara Taberland. Klara holds a BA degree in Jewellery from Estonian Academy of Arts.

For the most part the jewellery is made entirely by hand in silver, from melting and casting the metal to forming, finishing and polishing each piece.

The work is defined by a strong relationship with the material and the physical presence of jewellery on the body. Weight is deliberate, the material is allowed to be felt, not only seen. The forms are bold and minimalist, moving between pieces made for everyday wear and singular works that approach jewellery in a more exploratory form.

Rather than working according to seasonal collections or trends, I develop pieces from an intuitive desire to bring something into existence. Collections have no fixed timeframe or scale; some grow into larger bodies of work, while others remain small or consist of a single piece. Each is part of an ongoing practice of making, refining and exploring what jewellery can be.
